The ninth and potentially penultimate season of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' won't arrive on FXX (yes, a spin-off) until some time in September, but we've already heard quite a bit about the gang's upcoming adventures. We hope Dee has a handle on her heart condition, because her dreamy favorite singer Josh Groban will be guesting in an upcoming episode!

Weeks ago we heard the unusual if exciting news that 'Game of Thrones' showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss had penned one of the upcoming episodes for 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' season 9, inviting a host of comparisons as to how the Paddy's Pub gang might tackle the world of Westeros. Now, series star Charlie Day has gone on record with the episode's plot, but is it the 'Game of Thrones' parody we'd hoped?

Two seasons ago, the 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' gang went Oscar-baiting for their season 7 promos, while last year things took an anime turn. This time around, 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' celebrates its season 9 move to FXX with all the Swedish-language monochrome art house style you can drink!

We've been so busy covering the major (and ongoing) network TV stories of the past week that we almost didn't notice one of the more bizarre and intriguing nuggets of news to come out of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's upcoming ninth season. Specifically, it appears that 'Game of Thrones' showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss plucked their pens out of Westeros long enough to write an upcoming episode! Earlier in the year, we heard rumors that FX might look to spinoff its comedy properties into a separate network titled "FXX," to debut in September of this year. Now, as news pours out of the cable network's Upfront presentation, we've learned that FXX will indeed break off from FX and debut in 74 million homes this September, but will it be a comedy-central channel, or appeal to a broader demographic?

A few months ago we were surprised and saddened to learn that acclaimed FX dramedy 'Louie' was to take a long hiatus while comedian Louis C.K. toured and developed new material, finally premiering its fourth season in 2014. New reports about FX's evolving structure however could mean that when 'Louie' returns in 2014, it may not return to FX at all, but rather a spin-off network! That was quick. ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia' is concluding its eight season with "Reynolds vs. Reynolds: The Cereal Defense." Perhaps the season is only ten episodes because Charlie Day was busy shooting 'Pacific Rim.' Though the last episode "The Gang Dines Out" was just okay, we're hoping they're going to go out strong.
