‘Why Him?’ Red-Band Trailer: Family, Christmas, and Moose Testicles
The entertainment industry has done Bryan Cranston dirty. His award-hoarding turn as mild-mannered meth kingpin Walt White on Breaking Bad should have cracked Hollywood wide open for him, with high-power producers lining up to cast him in the next big prestige release. But for every Trumbo (which earned Cranston an Oscar nomination, despite plenty of shortcomings), there is a Why Him?, and the soggy prosthetic moose scrotum that goes with it.

‘King Cobra’ Trailer: Christian Slater’s Gay Porn Drama
“The Boogie Nights of gay porn” sounds like a high bar to live up to, but the trailer for King Cobra makes it look like the film will do just that. It’s a true crime drama about a man breaking onto the gay internet porn scene in the mid-2000s, full of sex, intrigue, manipulation, betrayal, Christian Slater, James Franco, and, really, what more could you want?

James Franco Frats It Up in ‘Goat’ Red Band Trailer
If you thought the green band trailer for Goat seemed a little too inoffensive considering the subject matter, then you were, obviously, correct. The red band trailer for the Sundance hit has arrived, and it’s filled with all the profanity and boozing and nudity and cautionary fraternizing you might expect from a film about the perils of hazing. It also proves that it doesn’t take much to convince us that James Franco is incredibly punchable.

Based on their short film Bag Man, Kin will be directed by brothers Jonathan and Josh Baker, and has already signed on Dennis Quaid. According to The Hollywood Reporter, James Franco, Jack Reynor, and Zoe Kravitz have joined the cast of the sci-fi tale about an ex-con (Reynor) and his adopted brother who are on the run from nefarious beings. The brothers will have to escape a vengeful criminal played by Franco and find a mysterious weapon.

'Preacher' Considered James Franco as Jesse Custer
Preacher had languished in development hell long enough for every actor to end up fancast in the title role at one point or another, but James Franco might seem a stretch, no matter how much range he shows in a given year. The attachment of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to AMC’s Preacher changed that, but how close did Franco get to the role Dominic Cooper inevitably won?

‘Goat’ Trailer: Nick Jonas and College Hazing Gone Wrong
We make fun of James Franco an awful lot on the internet — remember his short-lived flirtation with a Blood Meridian adaptation before it turned out he never had the rights to the movie? — but credit where it is due: Franco isn’t afraid to lend his celebrity to some pretty challenging subject matter. And after checking out the first trailer for Goat, I think it’s safe to say that Franco’s work as both actor and producer were well-placed on this one.

‘Why Him?’ Trailer: James Franco Is Your Worst Nightmare
It’s not much of a stretch to say James Franco is every parent’s worst nightmare. Could you imagine your kid — hypothetical or actual — dating the self-proclaimed artist occasionally known as Semaj? That’s the gist of Why Him?, in which Franco plays an obnoxious, foul-mouthed, tattooed billionaire dating the daughter of Bryan Cranston’s doting dad. He’s not technically playing himself, but it’s a pretty believable nightmare scenario.

While the phrase “James Franco lesbian vampire movie” was more than enough to sell us on Lifetime’s Mother, May I Sleep With Danger? remake (hell, “James Franco, Timecop” worked for 11.22.63), the trailer itself is something to behold. See for yourself, as the Tori Spelling camp classic gets a bloody facelift … you know, with James Franco, and lesbian vampires. I want to stress that part.

Stephen King Hints at Possible Plans for '11.22.63' Sequel
Equal parts electrifying and enigmatic (what baffling performance of James Franco’s isn’t?), Hulu’s take on Stephen King’s time-travel thriller 11.22.63 completed the basic spine of the author’s novel, centered around the assassination of JFK. That said, the limited series’ breakout success wasn’t lost on Hulu or King, who revealed some surprising ideas for a sequel.

James Franco Adapting the Epic Twitter Saga of Zola and Jess For the Screen
Last October, a gripping yarn to rival the epic poems of Homer began popularly circulating around the internet. Twitter user @_zolarmoon, an account belonging to one Aziah “Zola” Wells, related the fantastic tale of her ill-fated trip to Florida with a young woman named Jess that she met at Hooters, and captivated a nation...
