Brace yourselves: Jeff Bridges might actually be starring in a good film again, after a string of roles in films in which he’s basically played (much) lesser variations on his True Grit character. The actor has signed on to star in an adaptation of Claire Messud’s acclaimed novel The Emperor’s Children, which — as announced last year — is being helmed by actress and In a World… director Lake Bell.

Jeff Bridges Explains His Weird Super Bowl Commercial
Jeff Bridges really, really, really wants to help you sleep. The 'Seventh Son' star recently popped up during the Super Bowl, touting, well, something during a somewhat strange and somewhat soothing commercial spot. Turns out, Bridges is actually selling what it looks like he's selling: sleep. Wait, what?

‘Seventh Son’ Review: Jeff Bridges Battles Julianne Moore, the Nagging Sense This Is a Crummy Fantasy Movie
This is the sort of week that makes a film critic questions their life choices: First, the Wachowski’s choppy, incoherent ‘Jupiter Ascending,’ and now the long-delayed (and likely soon-forgotten) ‘Seventh Son.’ Its trailer boasts that it comes “from the production company that brought you ‘300: Rise of an Empire,’” which is sort of like trying to convince someone to eat in a restaurant because the manager used to work in an Olive Garden. Isn’t January supposed to be the month where all the bad movies get dumped? The clunkers are spreading to February like a fungus.

‘Seventh Son’ Trailer Reminds You This Movie Still Exists
The new ‘Seventh Son’ trailer is startling reminder that yes, this movie still exists and wasn’t something our addled brains cooked up while we were bed-ridden and battling a fever. Someone actually shot a movie where the great Jeff Bridges, complete with his trademark Rooster Cogburn mumble, plays a witch-hunting, monster-slaying magical warrior. And yes, you do remember correctly: this thing was supposed to come out in 2013 and yes, it was delayed to 2015. The word you’re looking for there is “Yikes.”

'Seventh Son' Trailer: Legend and Nightmare Are Real!
Remember that Jeff Bridges movie 'Seventh Son'? It was supposed to hit theaters this year, and we even got a Comic-Con 2013 panel from the film, but Legendary and Universal pushed it to 2015. Now, a new 'Seventh Son' trailer has been released to pretty much remind us all that it's still happening ... and that it kinda looks like what 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters' would've looked like without that R rating.

'The Giver' Clip: Taylor Swift Is a Sweet Memory
If you're going to cast Taylor Swift in your film, chances are she's probably going to sing. And she does a little of that in the latest clip from 'The Giver,' the new film based on the classic Young Adult novel of the same name. Swift plays Rosemary, a previous "receiver," whose time with Jeff Bridges' Giver was quite short. We're sure to learn more about why in the film, but until then, we have this melancholy new clip.

At one point during this interview, Jeff Bridges leaned back in his chair, laughed, then broke into an impression of Jeffrey Lebowski, his character from 'The Big Lebowski' who is also famously known as The Dude. It was at this moment that I decided that the trip from New York City to San Diego for Comic-Con was worth it.

On Thursday afternoon at San Diego Comic-Con, Jeff Bridges was on hand to promote his newest film, 'The Giver.' During the panel, Bridges -- as he's wont to do and what makes him Jeff Bridges -- went off on long and unrelated digressions. Here are our six favorite digression topics. (The Dude was brought up many, many times and he's not on this list because that was very expected.)

Today brings a new, extended trailer for 'The Giver,' the upcoming film based on the classic, award-winning young-adult novel of the same name by Lowis Lowry, and featuring Meryl Streep as a strict authoritarian figure in a dystopian future (because these are the only kinds of futures young adults have).
