If you’ve logged onto Facebook or trolled Reddit today, you surely saw the exciting news: Step Brothers 2 is officially happening and it begins filming this year! Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are back and they’re taking care of a baby! Oh great, a sequel to one of the funniest comedies of the past 25 years! Except it’s not true.

Today, a small development that may have major ramifications down the line: Deadline reports that yesterday, fledgling film distributor A24 quietly struck the March 11 release date of The Lobster from their schedule, with plans to announce a new release date ‘shortly.’ (A24 recently took over distribution of the film from another company, Alchemy.) The Deadline item also takes care to note that the relatively young distribution outfit waltzed away from the Oscars on Sunday night with three key wins — Ex Machina picked up the Best Visual Effects prize, Amy Winehouse chronicle Amy snagged the Best Documentary Feature award, and their adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s novel Room earned Brie Larson the Best Actress Oscar. Though we’ll find out shortly, it smells a bit like A24 may be considering a release later in the year, to pose The Lobster as a possible awards contender.

It’s been discussed a few times, but we’ve still never seen a sequel to Step Brothers, Adam McKay’s masterpiece about two grown men (Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly) whose parents marry, forcing them into an unlikely and unwanted familial relationship. And apart from a few small cameos and supporting appearances, Ferrell and Reilly, who also co-starred in McKay’s great Talladega Nights, haven’t made another movie together at all, with or without McKay. It’s enough to make a man give up hope, and possibly to stop lathering up their gorgeous six-pack abs with Kiehl’s.

John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan are two actors who are incredibly funny and just as equally capable of heart-wrenching drama, which makes them the perfect pairing for a Laurel and Hardy biopic. Reilly and Coogan will headline the upcoming film titled Stan & Ollie, a BBC Films production that centers on the final 1953 tour of the iconic comedic duo.

The dulcet tones of Matthew McConaughey are capable of anything. They bring an easygoing charm to the variety of laid-back characters that he plays on film, they were almost able to gloss over the fact that nothing McConaughey was saying in those Lincoln commercials made a lick of sense, and they’ve surely sweet-talked many a barmaid at the end of the night as the local watering hole clears out...

Big day for news out of Kong: Skull Island. Legendary’s new King Kong movie has had some actor shuffles over the last couple of months, but they may be close to finalizing their cast pretty soon. Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to head to the island along with Tom Wilkinson, while John C. Reilly is being sought after for a role as well.

Sometime last year, Wreck-It Ralph composer Henry Jackman basically offered our only confirmation of a sequel to the wonderful Disney film. Since then, we haven’t heard anything else about the possibility of the project, but Ralph himself has given us the closest thing to legit confirmation in an unlikely place: during a film festival in Ireland.

However, this new sci-fi world still has more nooks and crannies to explore, and 27 new photos from the film have debuted to help us traverse unknown terrain.
