After the first episode of a new show, especially the first episode of an old show with a new face, everyone is ready to deem it either fantastic or awful. Did Trevor Noah ruin Jon Stewart’s legacy? Is The Daily Show a completely different beast? Should we stop watching now that some random unknown guy is hosting? The answer to all of those is no, or at least, we have no idea yet. But after watching the young South African comedian’s debut in Stewart’s chair on Monday night, it’s refreshing to say he did a pretty good job, and only time will tell how well he can carry the show.

Now that Stephen Colbert’s Late Show continues humming along through its third week, eyes turn to Trevor Noah and the September 28 premiere of our new Daily Show on Comedy Central. First up after Jon Stewart’s departure, Noah has set comedian Kevin Hart, GOP hopeful Chris Christie, and musician Ryan Adams among his first guests of the new tenure.

Ride Along was one of the surprise hits of 2014, making a massive pile of cash in the traditionally slow month of January. A sequel was inevitable. Like clockwork, Ride Along 2 is set to arrive almost exactly two years to the day after the first film. Which means the second outing of Ice Cube and Kevin Hart’s mismatched buddy cops was written, shot, edited and will be released in the space of 728 days.

Talking dogs and cats have been a staple of animation since the medium’s earliest days, but The Secret Life of Pets trailer actually presents a fairly fresh take on this trope. The talking animals here are ordinary house pets, alone all day while their humans are at work, and we get to see how they pass the time.

Casting Dwayne Johnson or Kevin Hart in a movie is a surefire way of guaranteeing butts in theater seats. But what happens when you cast both of them in the same movie? We’ll find out soon enough when the new action comedy Central Intelligence arrives in theaters, but until then, enjoy your first sneak peek at the film courtesy of Johnson himself.

I woke this morning to a variety of recaps of the new episode of Louie. My Twitter feed was full of references to some kind of amazing poop joke that Louis C.K. makes on the show this week. Who better, then, to star in a children’s film? They love poop jokes almost as much as they love fart jokes!

Individually, Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart are undeniably hilarious guys. Bringing two major comedic forces together on the big screen just makes sense on both a commercial and entertainment level. Unfortunately, Get Hard largely squanders the talents of Ferrell and Hart on an outdated premise with tired jokes, delivering what essentially amounts to one overlong joke about the terrors of prison rape.

While the previous Get Hard trailers could only hint at the jokes that the final, R-rated film would feature, the new red band trailer drops you into a sea of f-bombs, nudity, racial conflict, and seedy bathroom encounters. This movie looks filthy, going above and beyond what we usually expect from stars Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. Whether you actually laugh at the trailer or not, one thing is certain: this thing is going to be huge.

One of the many highlights from last night’s SNL 40th anniversary special was the moment when new cast members Pete Davidson and Leslie Jones took to the stage, introducing a montage of audition tapes from the past 40 years. Not only did the footage include new and former cast members, but we also got a peek at the audition tapes of a few stars who surprisingly didn’t make the cut, like Jim Carrey and Kevin Hart.

The dust has barely settled from the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, and already we’ve got a look at the lineup for the 2015 South by Southwest Film Festival. After an initial announcement that included opening night film ‘Brand,’ about comedian Russell Brand,’ things have filled out really nicely with a ton of promising-sounding selections.
