Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig’s forthcoming Lifetime movie A Deadly Adoption has had a winding road to completion, first leaking to the press, then (jokingly?) canceled over the report, then back on. Now, there’s no stopping A Deadly Adoption (or a speeding truck) as Lifetime releases the first dramatic footage.

If you kept up with reviews and reactions out of the Sundance film festival back in January, then you’ve been keeping an eye out for The Diary of a Teenage Girl, the directorial debut from Marielle Heller starring Kristen Wiig, Alexander Skarsgard and newcomer Bel Powley. The first trailer for the upcoming film has arrived, and like the trailer for fellow Sundance hit Me and Earl and the Dying Girl before it, The Diary of a Teenage Girl looks like it can definitely live up to the hype.

Yesterday, we got our first peek at Ridley Scott’s upcoming film The Martian, featuring a very lonely Matt Damon as an astronaut stranded on Mars (hence the title, obviously). Today brings a batch of new images from the film, featuring even more shots of Damon all alone on the red planet, plus a bonus photo confirming that yes, there are other people in this movie — namely, Kristen Wiig.

Now, the same week that brought Hawkeye’s ode to himself sees Welcome To Me star Kristen Wiig stopping by the Tonight Show as Game of Thrones’ Khaleesi, for … reasons!

That Kristen Wiig is just full of surprises. Last night, we learned that Wiig and fellow hilarious human Will Ferrell filmed a secret movie for Lifetime (yes, really). Today, Wiig has another surprise for us: She’s joined the cast of Zoolander 2 (also featuring Ferrell), and you’re not going to believe what she looks like in this movie. It’s 100 percent outstanding.

You know the Lifetime Original Movie formula: heinous crime, family melodrama, over-acting and maudlin theatrics. Somewhere, there must be a Mad Lib form floating around the Lifetime offices in case they run out of steam. In what sounds like a ridiculous April Fools’ Day joke, Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have combined their considerable comedic talents to take on that very formula — yes, really.

This trailer for Masterminds, which teams Zach Galifianakis with Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess, claims it is “based on a true story.” And its Wikipedia page says basically the same thing; that this tale of blundering criminals is inspired by a 1997 robbery that took place in Charlotte North Carolina, where bandits stole over $17 million from the vault of an armored car company.

Last year saw IFC assembling a ridiculous collection of stars for the Funny or Die-produced Spoils of Babylon, and already the sequel is shaping up even bigger. Following Boardwalk Empire star Michael K. Williams’ cast as lead, The Spoils Before Dying has added new and returning stars the likes of Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Haley Joel Osment and more.

A few weeks ago we saw the festival trailer for Welcome to Me, the new dramedy starring a bonkers Kristen Wiig (the best kind) winning the Lotto and getting her own talk show. Today brings the official trailer for the upcoming indie, which generated some positive buzz on the festival circuit, and now you can see why for yourself.

A few key members of the SNL cast and crew must love “The Californians” because the much-derided sketch was brought back to life for the show’s star-studded 40th anniversary special. For those of us who have always enjoyed this bizarre sketch (and there are about three of us), it’s a welcome return and we will greedily drink up the angry tears of everyone else.
