ABC Renews 'Scandal,' 'Modern Family' and More, Picks Up Karen Gillan's 'Selfie'

While we're more concerned with ABC's renewal of Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' and an official series order for 'Agent Carter,' the network had plenty more to offer in advance of its Upfront presentation next week. Not only will such staples as 'Modern Family' and 'Scandal' return, but freshman comedy 'The Goldbergs' has officially earned an additional season, in addition to such pilots as 'Guardians of the Galaxy' star Karen Gillan's 'Selfie.'

If you watch Focus Features' 'The Signal' trailer hoping to find out exactly what the movie is about, you're probably in for a bit of a surprise. Although this is clearly a science-fiction thriller full of all kinds of creepy and gory alien imagery, the trailer puts tone first and foremost. And you know what? We're sold on the tone.
