The 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations were announced this morning and the full list of nominees shouldn't be much of a surprise. 'Les Miserables' and 'Lincoln' led all movies with four nominations each and 'Modern Family' led all TV shows with a total of four nominations. Tomorrow the Golden Globes nominations will be announced so take a look below to see the full list of the 2013 SAG Awards nominations and see who the frontrunners for Golden Globe and Oscar glory are.
Tom Hooper's 'Les Miserables' is not only the long awaited adaptation of one of one of the most beloved musicals of all time, it's a serious Oscar contender that looks to replicate the critical and financial success of his previous film, 'The King's Speech.' It's also a chance for the likes of Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway to really strut their stuff and bring a bit of Broadway to the big screen. Five clips have been released from the film, totaling about six minutes, and they can be watched below. Don't worry -- the film is 160 minutes long, so if you choose to watch these, you're only getting a tiny taste.
With the holiday season about to kick into gear, we're about to see the big guns of the Oscar pictures, and one of the biggest of 2012 is 'Les Miserables.' Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried lead the cast of the awards-bait film, and now they've taken had their pictures by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue magazine.
It's no secret that many people guest host Saturday Night Live to promote upcoming projects or films, but some handle the whole "plug my project while I make you laugh" thing better than others. Well, Anne Hathaway is a terrific multi-tasker: she managed to plug 'Les Miserables' while leading an inspired and rousing opening to last night's show.
Ready for another 'Les Miserables' trailer? Well, this one isn't as exciting as the first one, which debuted Anne Hathaway's major singing moment in the film, as this new international UK trailer is more depressing than anything else. However, after watching all the new footage compiled together, you realize that it actually doubles as a medley of some of the major songs from the musical!
We're about to enter the heart of darkness for the Oscar season, where a number of big pictures are going to make their bid to be the front runner. But all bets are off until December 25, when 'Les Miserables' hits screens. Now there are two TV spots to sell the scale and importance (and perhaps inevitability) of the film.
You have three marquee-busting actors with Oscar credibility in your cast. You have an Oscar-winning director coming off his massively successful Best Picture honoree. You have the power of Broadway behind you. And your debut poster is … the face of an orphan?
'Les Miserables' - the film adaptation of the classic Broadway musical - is, uh, not something we're overly familiar with. But we do know the movie has an all-star cast including Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen and Amanda Seyfriend. And now thanks to this new extended first-look at the adaptation, we found something else out about this film that's actually quite cool.
Apologies to those of you who like to plan your movie nights over a year in advance: a handful of changes were made to the release calendar, including at least two major delays and a Christmas present for musical lovers.
