Although we previously heard that Joaquin Phoenix might be reuniting with his Signs and The Village director M. Night Shyamalan for a new thriller, it would appear that those plans never progressed beyond the discussions stage. Instead, X-Men star James McAvoy will lead Shyamalan’s next project, simply described as a “supernatural thriller.”

Are you ready for an M. Night Shyamalan comeback?

FOX’s M. Night Shyamalan-driven Wayward Pines hasn’t quite captured audiences everywhere (the Shyamalan name hardly commands intrigue these days), though upticks in DVR viewing and moderate ratings may well pave the way to a second season. That said, will star-studded cast the likes of Matt Dillion, Carla Gugino, Terrence Howard or Melissa Leo return?

Not long ago, comedian/actor/genius Patton Oswalt revealed his detailed plan for two more films to form an Unbreakable trilogy. As it turns out, director M. Night Shyamalan isn’t exactly interested in making a film trilogy, but he is definitely interested in continuing the story that began with his film, originally released in 2000.

After a brief intermission, M. Night Shyamalan is back. In addition to the new Fox series Wayward Pines, the twist-y filmmaker also has a new movie coming out: The Visit. We first heard about the film last year, but other than the casting of Kathryn Hahn, production has remained fairly quiet. With Shyamalan’s latest hitting theaters in just four months, the first trailer has arrived to reveal just what The Visit is all about.
