The latest viral video features noted astrophysicist and Cool Guy™ Neil deGrasse Tyson in a fictional episode of StarTalk, examining the Ares 3 mission featured in The Martian.

Honestly, 20th Century Fox hardly needs to hype up the release of Ridley Scott’s The Martian any more than they already have — we’re sold. But today brings a new TV spot for the upcoming sci-fi film, which makes excellent use of Jimi Hendrix’s “All Along the Watchtower” while showing off a little bit of new footage.

Julia Stiles, who appeared in the first three Bourne films as CIA agent Nicky Parsons, has signed on to reprise her role for the fifth. In addition, Universal also has their sights set on Viggo Mortensen to play the villain in the upcoming sequel.

For the second time in as many years, Matt Damon will be starring in a sci-fi film as an astronaut stranded all alone on a planet. In Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, Damon played Dr. Mann, whose mental health went a bit wackadoo after he was left alone in space. In Ridley Scott’s The Martian, Damon plays Mark Watney, an astronaut stranded on Mars and struggling to survive. To further invite comparisons, both films star Jessica Chastain. But Matt Damon would like to assure you that these films are very different.

People have been describing The Martian, the upcoming film from from Ridley Scott, as “the next Gravity.” It’s another lost-in-space adventure story with a small cast and huge life-or-death stakes. But the first trailer for the movie makes it look more like Cast Away, the Robert Zemeckis movie about Tom Hanks stranded on a deserted island, learning to survive with limited tools and the contents of
