With Batman vs. Superman and Captain America: Civil War each less than two months away, it might feel like the Marvel and DC universes are dominating the landscape. But, let’s not forget that the X-Men Movies Universe is still a thing and X-Men: Apocalypse is on its way. Not to be outdone by the many Captain America posters, X-Men: Apocalypse has released a brand new poster highlighting the film’s villains.

Movie ticket pre-orders have become big business lately. Anticipation for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was so high multiple online ticket sites like Fandango crashed under the insane demand. Movie studios want you to buy your tickets for opening weekend now while you’re still very excited and before you make other plans, which fans seems more than happy to do...

It’s a bit…early…to be banking on a sequel to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed film. Justin Kurzel’s movie based on the hit video game franchise doesn’t hit theaters until December, but a new report suggests that New Regency is already plotting a second Assassin’s Creed with Michael Fassbender set to return. While the studio might just be securing their option, it’s also quite possible that Kurzel’s film is that good.

Although Alien: Covenant is a horror film, its planned October 2017 release seemed a little too on-the-nose, especially for a blockbuster sci-fi project. With an increasingly excellent cast, we’re fairly excited for Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien prequel, which makes today’s news of an earlier release date pretty wonderful.

The Light Between Oceans definitely looks like a Derek Cianfrance film: beautiful actors experiencing not-so-beautiful things in an emotionally devastating, intimate drama. The first trailer for the director’s follow-up to the divisive Place Beyond the Pines is here, featuring current Oscar hopefuls Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender in what could be an early contender for next year’s awards. If nothing else, this movie looks like it’s going to shatter your heart into a tiny thousand pieces.

An Alien prequel starring Danny McBride? This could seriously be the movie we never knew we always wanted. In a bit of news that is equal parts surprising and kind of awesome, the former Eastbound and Down star and master of obnoxious humor is in talks to join Alien: Covenant, which seems to indicate that Ridley Scott may very well indeed be a genius. An evil genius, but a genius.

Unlike Duncan Jones’ Warcraft movie, Justin Kurzel’s Assassin’s Creed seems like it may be able to appeal to a wider audience beyond the niche video game fan base. That’s thanks in part to the casting of Michael Fassbender (who doesn’t love that guy?), the hiring of Kurzel, the sci-fi / action genre appeal, and their commitment to using practical effects and stunts when and wherever possible. But just in case you need a little more convincing, Fassbender’s got you covered.

As teased in the post-credits sting of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Apocalypse is coming and he’s bringing his four horsemen — okay, not the four horsemen we saw in that teaser scene, but a new set of horsemen: Magneto, Psylocke, Storm and Angel. 20th Century Fox has revealed some new photos of the characters who will play accessory to Oscar Isaac’s titular baddie, while some additional details have emerged about their role in X-Men: Apocalypse.
