The latest trailer for the sequel is packed with lots of new footage, as Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga travel across the pond to investigate a terrifying case known as “England’s Amityville” — a haunting so dangerous that one of them may not make it out alive.

Before he gets to work on Aquaman, James Wan has returned to the genre he knows best with The Conjuring 2, reuniting with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga for the followup to his hit 2013 horror film. The director has posted some neat photos from the set, where he’s taken a few locations in London back in time to the 1970s.

It’s a rare occurrence when one writer takes another’s story and adapts it into an entirely new creature of its own, outside of imitation or homage. It’s even more rare when that writer reinvents his adaptation yet again for a second installment. Noah Hawley did that last year with Joel and Ethan Coen’s 1996 dark comedy Fargo, easily one of 2014's best TV series. Now Hawley’s doing it all over again, adopting the anthology format for a second season of FX’s Fargo, taking the seeds from the Coen brothers’ classic and planting them in another original, bizarre field. But even the creative brilliance of sowing something new can lead to watching a very slow, tepid growth.

We’re less than a month away from the October premiere of FX’s Fargo Season 2, even with the onslaught of fall TV looming over the next few weeks, but the ‘70s-set series has something to warm us over in the meantime. Sometimes I wonder if we know what to do with Patrick Wilson. It’s rare that he’s utilized well, but when he is, Wilson is excellent to watch. The Conjuring, Little Children and Girls all put Wilson’s talents to good use, but then there’s stuff like Zipper…which doesn’t quite seem like the best use of his time. The new trailer showcases a so-so thriller that looks like Shame meets The Ides of March.
