So it's not a big surprise that 'The Hobbit: There and Back Again'  has been pushed from July 18 to December 13, 2014.

'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,' the first film in Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit' film trilogy, has been long in the making. The professed J.R.R. Tolkien fan has been wanting to turn this beloved book into a big screen adaptation for some time, and the debut of the 'Lord of the Rings' movie trilogy was a step towards this fulfillment. Last night saw the big world premiere of 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' in New Zealand. Normally most premieres are in Los Angeles but because 'The Hobbit' was shot in New Zealand (and director Peter Jackson was finishing the film in the days leading up to the premiere), the premiere was in Wellington.
