Sometimes when a film is released, the people involved will talk up a sequel regardless if one will actually happen. Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' set up a sequel, and both Scott and star Noomi Rapace suggested that 'Prometheus 2' would happen, but little came of it. Until today, as a writer has just been hired to pen the sequel.

Those numbers didn't suggest that a sequel was going to be coming any time soon, while writer Damon Lindelof announced he wouldn't be involved with the follow up, which suggested that a sequel was never going to happen. But there's hope for a sequel yet as star Noomi Rapace has reported that the script is being worked on right now.

Here's the thing: if you have a dozen engaged and insightful friends who are willing to share a beer after seeing 'Prometheus,' you can talk yourself into thinking it's a fabulous movie. That's assuming you and your friends are positive people. If it's the other way, you'll be shouting “Fie! Scott and Lindelof, you've wasted our time!”

'Prometheus' is a nothing if not aggravating. It comes within spitting distance of greatness, yet is still something of a disappointment. Yann Martel’s ‘Pi’ is a best-selling novel set predominantly on a raft, and despite its visual limitations, figured to be an Oscar contender based on the weight of the material and Lee’s past successes.
