Sam Raimi hasn’t made a new horror film since 2009's Drag Me to Hell, his arguably underrated, super-gross gypsy curse flick. Aside from producing the Ash vs. Evil Dead series for Starz (and directing one episode), Raimi has remained focused on other, non-horror projects, like his Spider-Man trilogy, Oz the Great and Powerful, and his upcoming remake of French drama A Prophet. Fans of the Evil Dead mastermind may be interested in this video, then, which is the closest we’re likely to get to a new, original Raimi horror film…kind of.

Starz’s Ash Vs. Evil Dead earned itself a groovy Season 2 pickup before the first run even premiered, and now Bruce Campbell is already dusting off the chainsaw again. Joining Ash this year will be none other than cameo mainstay Ted Raimi, along with The Six Million Dollar Man himself, Lee Majors, in roles key to Ash’s childhood.

Although the recent English-language remake of The Secret in Their Eyes didn’t make much of an impression on critics or audiences, Sony is still determined to Americanize another critically-acclaimed, Oscar-nominated foreign film. Hopefully the studio’s plans for A Prophet work out a little better, and with Sam Raimi now on board to direct from a screenplay by master of crime Dennis Lehane, we are feeling…cautiously optimistic about this one.

News of NBC’s proposed Xena reboot was quickly distanced from iconic series star Lucy Lawless, who thought of the prospect as a rumor, despite husband Rob Tapert’s attachment behind the scenes. The idea for a modern warrior princess doesn’t appear to have gotten very far, but NBC has at least made things more official, hiring LOST alum Javier Grillo-Marxuach to pen the pilot episode.

Groovy Bruce made a big enough splash ahead of this past Saturday’s Ash vs. Evil Dead premiere to earn a Season 2 renewal, but Starz still wants you to see what all the undead fuss is about. Find out for yourself with the first full premiere installment of Ash vs. Evil Dead, now available online!

Already earning rave reviews ahead of its Halloween premiere, Ash vs. Evil Dead will keep Bruce Campbell groovy for even longer. Starz has officially hailed to the king, greenlighting a second season of the Sam Raimi horror show to battle Deadites in 2016.

If there’s one thing the Evil Dead franchise has taught us, it’s to be wary of things that look too good to be true. The zombies in this series love to disguise themselves as the reanimated friends and family of the film’s heroes. And then, when the good guys let their guard down, the monsters strike.

Ecstatic altogether though we are to have ol’ Groovy Bruce back in the saddle for Starz’s Ash vs. Evil Dead, one can’t help wonder if Ash might cross paths with the rebooted Evil Dead world. We’ve heard Sam Raimi say as much before, but are Ash and Mia going to be vs.-ing the Evil Dead any time soon?

For decades, Evil Dead lovers have begged, pleaded, and pestered director Sam Raimi and star Bruce Campbell for another movie. None of the three films were huge box office smashes, and none were critically acclaimed in their initial release. Starz’s Ash Vs. Evil Dead won’t officially get the Deadite party rolling until Halloween, but those in attendance of New York Comic-Con 2015 will get a chance to meet the man himself, and catch exclusive previews of of Ash’s return. Starz has set the full NYCC panel plans, along with an autograph session and a new photo.
