Just when you thought the live-action Marvel Universe couldn't get any bigger, along came Brett Dalton.  New reports indicate that the 'Blue Bloods' star has landed a role in Joss Whedon and  ABC's forthcoming 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series, portraying yet another member of the up and coming squad.  The series, set to shoot its pilot next year will operate within the same cinematic universe as 'The Avengers,' but focus largely on original characters.  What "deadly" new character will Brett Dalton bring to life for the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Even with the recognizable names of a resurrected Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, and 'ER' vet Ming-Na as an all-new character, ABC and Joss Whedon's forthcoming 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series still remains something of a mystery.  Comprised of a team of all-new characters, that mystery hasn't abated as the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series has officially added two new names to its list  So, who in the Marvel universe might they be playing and where could we have seen them before?

We live in a fascinating media age with an even more promising future, as last week brought the news trifecta that 2015 would see the releases of 'The Avengers 2,' 'Justice League,' and 'Star Wars - Episode 7.'  Should then, we have any kernel of doubt that Joss Whedon and ABC's forthcoming 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series could be any less real?  From what we've learned, Whedon won't waste any time in shooting a pilot, but when will the series debut?

'S.H.I.E.L.D.,' assemble!  While we still don't know how exactly Clark Gregg will return to reprise the role of Agent Phil Coulson in ABC and Joss Whedon's upcoming 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series, we've at least got the first assuredly living casting.  Former 'ER' doc Ming-Na will add a few new letters to her resume as one of the new agents to be featured in the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series, but what role will she play?  And what's changed about the original casting?

Coulson lives! And it’s not just fanboyism! Since we were attending the Marvel TV panel expecting to learn about the company’s upcoming animation lineup, imagine our surprise to find an appearance by Agent Phil Coulson himself, Clarg Gregg! And what magnanimous announcement should Joss Whedon himself deliver via video? Coulson indeed lives, and will headline ABC’s 'SHIELD' TV series!

ABC has given the official greenlight to the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' television series produced by Marvel Studios and Disney, but that's not exactly surprising. The real news is that 'Avengers' director Joss Whedon will script the project, and might also direct the pilot episode.
