'Sons of Anarchy' Season 7: Kurt Sutter Talks Extending the Series

FX biker drama 'Sons of Anarchy' hasn't maintained the same critical following by its sixth season that it enjoyed during the inaugural few years, but series creator Kurt Sutter maintains that the series will still have life in it through the current sixth, and projected seventh and final. That said however, would Sutter consider extending the series through an eighth season, given the massive ratings 'Sons of Anarchy' gives to FX?

Last night's 'Sons of Anarchy' bloodbath, "Wolfsangel," saw the demise of at least four major characters for the series, including one who had largely proven to be the major villain over the course of the sixth season. With the bodies on the ground, series creator Kurt Sutter explained the reasoning behind the episode's sudden deaths, as well as how the original plan may have extended through the seventh and presumably final season.

Despite months of warning and 'Sons of Anarchy' creator Kurt Sutter's considerable outreach to justify the event's inclusion in season 6 premiere "Straw," the Parents Television Council continues to express its outrage over the inclusion of a school shooting, calling for a reform in cable subscribing policies. True to form as ever, Sutter has fired back through his own blog, calling the outrage "not very intuitive or intelligent."

Months ago, 'Sons of Anarchy' creator, writer, executive producer and occasional star Kurt Sutter warned press that season 6 premiere "Straw" contained the series' most shocking act of violence yet, a notion validated last night in which a school shooting provided an unforeseen climax to SAMCRO's violent dealings. Now, Sutter has stepped up to defend the scene's effect on the series, without sensationalizing the issue in the wrong light.
