‘Space Jam’ Director Says the LeBron James Sequel Is ‘Doomed’

We’ve long been promised / threatened a sequel to Space Jam, and Warner Bros. is determined to follow through on that plan, recently tapping Furious 6 director Justin Lin to helm the project. But the director of the original film doesn’t think any of this is a good idea; in fact, he thinks WB should go ahead and pump the brakes on Space Jam 2 before it even takes off.

The hard facts: LeBron James and his SpringHill Entertainment production company have inked a deal with Warner Bros. that will see the NBA superstar collaborating with the studio on “TV, film and original digital content.” The speculation: Space Jam 2 is nigh and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

LeBron James has long been compared to Michael Jordan as he's one of the most gifted players in basketball today. Those comparisons will now extend to cinema as James has signed on for 'Space Jam 2,' a sequel to the film that had MJ playing basketball with Bugs Bunny and the other members of the Looney Tunes.
