When it comes to 'Star Trek Into Darkness,' the main talking point is without question the identity of Benedict Cumberbatch's character. Is he playing an updated version of a classic villain, say, Khan for example? The word thus far from the creative team has been a definitive no -- but who ever trusts what these notoriously secretive folk say anyway?
Today the denials get firmer, as we have Cumberbatch himself weighing in, talking in some detail about who his character is and what his name isn't -- and that it is NOT Khan.
It feels like J.J. Abrams and company are going to keep playing footsies with the "is he or isn't he Khan" in regards to Star Trek Into Darkness's villain (played by Benedict Cumberbatch), but they did let out some details about the film and its cast today at their first big press event for the summer film, including a real connection to 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.'
We've been talking a lot about this upcoming 'Star Trek Into Darkness' preview, hitting IMAX theaters starting December 14, but the question of exactly where you can view the footage was left up in the air... until now. With the first official movie poster and teaser trailer already making the rounds, it's time to gear up for this in-depth preview. Click ahead to find out where you can watch it.
The 'Star Trek Into Darkness' trailer debuted late last night (early this morning?) and it offered up our first official look at the mysterious 'Star Trek' sequel. So we slowed the trailer down and took some juicy HD screencaps to see what intel we could uncover hidden in the footage. So what did we find? Read on!
Though the trailer won't hit the web until December 17, and the film doesn't hit theaters until May 2013, 'Star Trek Into Darkness' has just released their teaser for the trailer that's coming. Yup, this nonsense again, but at least this one's a minute long.
'Star Trek: Into Darkness' doesn't hit theaters until May of next year, but fans are more than looking forward to seeing the much talked about first footage, said to premiere along with screenings of 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' come December 14. Bring on the marketing! Presumably in preparation for the big reveal, Paramount has released the first teaser poster for 'Star Trek: Into Darkness.' Check it out in full after the break.
One of the biggest concerns about 'Star Trek Into Darkness' was that the film was going to be a remake of 'Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan,' which made no sense to those who know the series because the character wouldn't have interacted with the crew in the new timeline of these movies. Now there's a synopsis for 'Into Darkness,' and it suggests that J.J. Abrams and company may be plundering another familiar character, but not Khan Noonien Singh.
'Star Trek Into Darkness' doesn't hit theaters for another six months but one of the film's actors is already talking about the end. Zachary Quinto, who stars as Spock in the J.J. Abrams reboot-verse, said he might be done with the character and the 'Star Trek' universe.
