Sidelined though she may have been, Princess General Leia thrilled fans with Carrie Fisher’s return to the role for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and now we’ll get the opportunity to see the original Star Wars heroine in a new light. As long expected, Princess Leia will pop up on Star Wars Rebels this season, but will Carrie Fisher be along for the ride?

Part of the charm to Disney’s Star Wars Rebels has been the opportunity to hear Original Trilogy stars reprising their iconic roles, from James Earl Jones’ Darth Vader to Billy Dee Williams’ Lando. We’ve even heard Frank Oz’s Yoda, but now the character is confirmed for a full Season 2 appearance, along with another major returning character from the franchise.

The amount of Star Wars news flooding the internet could fill an entire galaxy, near or far, but the latest will take us a bit longer ago than The Force Awakens. Star Wars Rebels will officially return for Season 3 in 2016, keeping the crew of the Ghost fighting the Empire for another year.

Earlier today, Star Wars Rebels gave us a closer look at Season 2 with a clip of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s villainous “Seventh Sister,” but the Disney XD drama had so much more in store for New York Comic-Con 2015. A brand new trailer sees Ahsoka taking on the Inquisitors, with some surprises in store for the Ghost crew in Season 2.

Last week, we learned the surprising news that Buffy vet Sarah Michelle Gellar would ignite Star Wars Rebels Season 2 as a new inquisitor, rather than a young Princess Leia. Still, the erstwhile vampire slayer is all menace in the latest clip from Season 2, as Ezra attempts to hold his own in an interrogation.

Star Wars fans went wild for the news that Buffy herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar would join her husband Freddie Prinze Jr. for the second season of Star Wars Rebels, speculation abundant she might voice a young Princess Leia. Gellar had a bit of fun with the rumor as well, but reveals a far more sinister role for the second Rebels ride.

We know, we know. Star Wars Rebels Season 2 already premiered a sample of its second round by the stellar “Siege of Lothal,” but the real debut of new Star Wars Rebels has at last set its premiere. Lock down your hyperdrives for October, when the crew of the Ghost takes on the mantle of Star Wars Rebels once more for Season 2.

Disney kept Star Wars Rebels out of Comic-Con 2015 and only had so much to offer at D23, but us New Yorkers are in for a treat come NYCC in October. Not only will New York Comic-Con screen the first two episodes of Star Wars Rebels Season 2, but so too have we intercepted the Empire’s panel plans.
