Whether or not CBS’ Supergirl has soared into the hit CBS was expecting, or bizarrely begun leaning on its Superman connections too much, there was little likelihood Kara would be sent back to The Phantom Zone just yet. CBS has officially picked up a full season of Supergirl, though perhaps not as full as some hope.

Okay, Now ‘Supergirl’ IS Casting its Own Superman … Sort Of

EDIT

CBS
CBS' Supergirl has maintained a notably odd relationship with Superman, over-alluding to him in the pilot without speaking a name, only to feature a faceless fly-by and emoji chat as early as episode 3. Now, the DC drama will take its next Kryptic step, casting a younger Man of Steel for an appearance that ... might make your head hurt.

We’re a little over four months from the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will launch a whole new world of films into our lives: the DC Cinematic Universe. Spinning out of the events of 2013’s Man of Steel, it will pit Henry Cavill’s Superman against Ben Affleck’s Batman, and put both characters on the path toward a massive two-part film about DC’s heavy-hitting super-team, the Justice League of America, which will also feature the exploits of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), the Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and more.

CBS Supergirl hasn’t had any trouble standing on her own through the first two outings, but it seems the DC drama may already reach out for some Super-help in Monday’s “Fight or Flight.” A new promo reveals that a certain S-shielded superhero will make a flyby, while upcoming photos also reveal Livewire, and more DC figures ahead.

EDIT

Warner Bros.
Since Batman vs. Superman was first announced, many openly wondered how Batman, a dude with no discernible superpowers, would be able to fight Superman, a dude with ALL the superpowers, without getting completely destroyed rather quickly. Director Zack Snyder knows that’s on your mind and has a very simple answer for how Batman plans to even the playing field: he’s going to cheat.

‘Supergirl’ Finally Says Superman’s Name in First ‘Stronger Together’ Clips

EDIT

CBS
Only providing a solitary episode to critics, CBS’ Supergirl drew understandable flack for its tendency to reference Kara’s cousin Superman in pronoun, strangely refusing to say the name out loud. Following a stellar debut, and with new episodes on the way, that ban seems to have listed in the first clips from our next Supergirl outing, “Stronger Together.”

CBS’ Supergirl has officially touched down from her series premiere, and whatever we made of the pilot, DC baddies are already lining up to take Superman’s cousin down. Check out the full Supergirl season trailer to come, including new looks at Reactron and Red Tornado, and all the love triangle goodness you can handle! Not between Kara and the villains, though. That’d be weird.

However difficult a time Gotham has navigating early years of Batman mythology, Man of Steel writer David Goyer’s Syfy Krypton looks to skirt its Superman problem by going hundreds of years in the past. Goyer offered up a few new details of the tone and setting of the proposed pilot, potentially tying into the Man of Steel mythos as well.
