With the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving ahead full bore and Warner Bros. actively developing the expansion of the DC universe, Sony Pictures is looking to create their own mini-universe centered around Spider-Man. Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chairman Amy Pascal spoke today and revealed they have plans to create a number of new films based on "new heroes and villains" from the Spider-Man universe.
Hans Zimmer, who composed such movie scores as 'Man of Steel' and Christopher Nolan's 'Dark Knight' trilogy, is next tackling 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2,' picking up after James Horner's work on the first Marc Webb-directed installment. But Zimmer is apparently not alone. Rapper Pharrell Williams, who has a scoring credit on 'Despicable Me 2,' has teamed up with the famous composer to tackle Spidey.
'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' is already chock full of baddies for the webslinger to face, including Paul Giamatti's Rhino and (the main event) Jamie Foxx's Electro. There was even talk that Colm Feore and Chris Cooper have bigger parts to play, but could there be yet another hidden villain Marc Webb and his team are just waiting to spring on us?
