The Avengers: Age of Ultron
This has been a major point of speculation in the Marvel fan universe as of late with rumors of solo 'Huk' films featuring the 'Planet Hulk' and 'World War Hulk' storylines, though they were soon shot down by both Joss Whedon and Marvel. Still, many of us are secretly hoping that our favorite big green guy will get the same screen time as Captain America and Iron Man, but will it actually happen? Here's the latest on this from Mark Ruffalo...
After 'The Avengers' it seemed a foregone conclusion that The Hulk would eventually get his own movie. Then came the rumors that a big part of Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would involved Hulk being sent to outer space after 'The Avengers 2' launching the 'Planet Hulk' storyline from the comics. But 'Avengers' director and Marvel Godfather Joss Whedon has commented on the Planet Hulk rumors and he calls the idea "nonsense."
One of the biggest surprises to emerge from the massive success of 'The Avengers' was the renewed interest in the Hulk (as well as the puny Dr. Bruce Banner). Marvel's green monster had headlined two solo movies of his own with mixed results, but for the first time, audiences had seen the true potential of the character. 'Avengers' director Joss Whedon recently spoke about the Hulk, his future in the Marvel movie universe and just how hard he is to get right.
We knew that Marvel has longterm plans for their movie universe, but we didn't know they were this longterm. It turns out that they're not just thinking about 'Iron Man 3,' 'Thor: The Dark World,' 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and the second 'Avengers' movie -- they're already thinking about a third 'Avengers' movie...and the major role The Hulk will play in the coming films. The following news will be nothing new to comic fans, but casual viewers should know that this is pretty major SPOILER territory.
'Star Wars: Episode 7' still hasn't announced its director but one of the names that has been on the list since Day 1 is 'Avengers' director Joss Whedon. He's busy working on both the 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series and 'The Avengers 2' but is there room for 'Star Wars: Episode 7' in that equation?
'The Avengers' might have been the biggest movie of 2013 (and one of the biggest movies of all-time) but Jeremy Renner is already hoping for more from 'The Avengers 2.' The actor, who's out promoting 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters,' admits he was disappointed with his role in the first 'Avengers' movie and is hoping for more out of 'Avengers 2.'
'The Avengers' wound up with a lineup of characters previously seen in the previous Marvel movies like Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Nick Fury and Hawkeye. But if writer/director Joss Whedon had gotten his away, another well-known superhero would've debuted in 'The Avengers' as a part of the team. Who was it and will it be someone we see in 'The Avengers 2?'
