A few days ago at Comic-Con 2015, we had the luxury of catching Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter’s exclusive preview of FX’s The Bastard Executioner, promising a “dark as pitch” vision of medieval brutality. Now, the Bastard is on full display to the public, as FX debuts the first official promo for the new Kurt Sutter saga.

It was the end of an era at Comic-Con 2015, as for the first time in years, Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter wasn’t on hand himself to preview the latest bloodsport. That isn’t to say that Sutter didn’t attend in spirit, instead sending along an exclusive preview of September FX premiere The Bastard Executioner, and we were on hand for all the gory details.

Sons of Anarchy’s ultimate end is only a few miles behind in our rear-view mirrors, and already series creator Kurt Sutter and star Katey Sagal are back in the limelight. Not only has the first photo of Sagal’s Bastard Executioner character emerged, but so too will FX bring The Bastard Executioner to Anarchy’s old slot at Comic-Con 2015.

Sons of Anarchy may have taken its final ride, but series creator Kurt Sutter is far from finished with FX. The network has officially handed down a series order to medieval drama The Bastard Executioner, chopping off the first bloody photo in the process.

Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter’s new FX project The Bastard Executioner has at last hit full swing, setting a major cast for the medieval period pilot. Not only will Katey Sagal lead the cast, but so too will True Blood star Stephen Moyer, several newcomers, Sutter himself, and even The Americans lead Matthew Rhys.

Kurt Sutter’s FX biker opus ‘Sons of Anarchy‘ will rev its last within a few weeks time, but while the potential prequel cools its heels, work continues on Sutter’s medieval FX followup ‘The Bastard Executioner.’ And whatever Gemma Teller’s ultimate fate may be, we can expect to see Katey Sagal right beside her husband once more with a role in the new series.

'Sons of Anarchy' creator Kurt Sutter recently told reporters he'd want a few years after the FX biker drama's end before any potential prequel miniseries, and it seems we know what he'll be doing in the meantime. FX has given a pilot order to Sutter's new medieval drama 'The Bastard Executioner,' along with executive producer Brian Grazer.
