If you consider yourself to be the "ultimate" fan of 'The Hobbit' or J.R.R. Tolkien, you might want to rethink that statement, especially if you haven't met this Pennsylvania resident. Even 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' and 'The Lord of the Rings' movie trilogy director Peter Jackson, who has a piece of the actual 'Hobbit' set resting in his backyard, probably hasn't met this mysterious Middle Earth enthusiast who commissioned the construction of a real-life Shire...and it's primary function, other than looking magnificent, is to house his gigantic collection of Tolkien memorabilia.

'The Hobbit' Strikes Down 'Age of the Hobbits': Judge Pulls the Plug on Mockbuster

You'll recall about a month ago we told you about the battle between two 'Hobbits'; that is, Warner Bros. 'The Hobbit' and The Asylum's crude knock-off, 'Age of the Hobbits.' Warner Bros. filed a lawsuit against the smaller studio, known for its "mockbusters," insisting they stop the release of their slightly similarly titled movie, with the idea being that they were infringing on their 'Hobbit' trademark. Meanwhile, The Asylum was all, "What are you talking about, this is a totally different thing!"
It appears as though, if you'll forgive the analogy, in this particular case of David vs. Goliath, Goliath has most definitely won. At least for now.

'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,' the first film in Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit' film trilogy, has been long in the making. The professed J.R.R. Tolkien fan has been wanting to turn this beloved book into a big screen adaptation for some time, and the debut of the 'Lord of the Rings' movie trilogy was a step towards this fulfillment. But it certainly wasn't an easy road as many people teamed up to put this project together.
Before you see 'An Unexpected Journey' in theaters when it hits this Friday, December 14, take a look at this collection of behind-the-scenes photos to get a feel for what it took to make a movie of this magnitude. Seeing a group of ogres without costume and makeup is as arguably entertaining as seeing them on screen. Or what about Sir Ian McKellen grabbing some coffe in full Gandalf attire!

By now you're well aware of the controversy surrounding Peter Jackson's decision to shoot 'The Hobbit' in 48fps, a higher frame rate that has given the movie, at least in the early going, a sped-up and slightly disorienting appearance. (Read our review right here.) It has almost exclusively dominated the conversation regarding the highly-anticipated prequel, and today we have Warner Bros. weighing in to assure us that, contrary to some reports, 'The Hobbit' in 48fps will not make you nauseous. Always nice to know!

Midtown Manhattan became Middle Earth today as the cast and crew of 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' came to the Waldorf=Astoria hotel (yes, that weird equals sign is the correct way to spell it.) Film writers, bloggers and gurus were in...

The reviews for 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' are piling in like a horde of angry orcs, and while most are positive (not including our own), the conversation seems to be dominated by the high frame rate Peter Jackson utilized to help bring the film to life. Fair or not, we had better get used to this being the main topic when it comes to 'The Hobbit', at least during the first few weeks of release.
However, while the world at large must wait for the chance to make up its own mind regarding the film, we have six clips from the epic adventure to hold you over until it comes out. Check them all out after the break.
