A&E’s Bates Motel checked into a bit of good news earlier today with a two-season renewal, though on the flipside of the coin, it seems as if The Returned remake will head back to the coffin after only one season.
We were admittedly skeptical when A&E announced that it would develop its own version of revered French series 'The Returned,' which itself inspired ABC's own 'Resurrection,' though the cast of A&E's version at least gives us reason to continue. 'Scott Pilgrim' star Mary Elizabeth Winstead has joined the cast, along with Jeremy Sisto, and other such stars from 'Arrow,' 'House of Cards,' 'LOST' and more.
ABC hasn't had a tremendous amount of luck with the supernatural genre of late, but by gum, they're going to try again. Following the recent cancellation of '666 Park Avenue,' and the even-more-recent scrap of 'Weird Desk" based on thematic similarities to the upcoming 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' TV series, ABC's next effort will bring the dead back to life with 'The Returned.' The project, produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment, is based on a novel by Jason Mott, but will ABC manage to make 'The Returned' stay?
