Few horror franchises have bottomed out quite as quickly as 'The Ring,' which went from one of the scariest movies of the '00s to one of the worst horror sequels ever made. How bad was 'The Ring Two'? It took a series that felt like a sure thing and put it into hibernation for the better part of a decade. But you can only keep a well-dwelling, VHS-loving, long-haired girl ghost down for so long! We knew that 'The Ring 3D' was in the works, but now an Academy Award winning screenwriter is being brought on board to work on the script.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned -- especially if that woman hates baseball. The popular character Sadako from the Japanese 'Ring' movies likes to crawl through television sets and down staircases to get at you. She's good at that. What is she not so good at? Throwing the first pitch at a Japanese baseball game.

Found footage has proven highly profitable, particularly for horror films. Following the success of 'Paranormal Activity' and 'The Devil Inside,' Paramount's Insurge banner is understandably riding that gravy train until it ends -- and now they want to marry that profitable gimmick with another highly profitable title: 'The Ring.'
