The Walking Dead

'The Walking Dead' is a post-apocalyptic horror drama on AMC that follows a main group of survivors living in a world overrun by zombies. It was developed by Frank Darabont based on the Image Comics series of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard. 'The Walking Dead' debuted its pilot episode on October 31, 2010 and has since grown to one of television's most-watched series. AMC unceremoniously dismissed Darabont from the series going into its second season, and various reasons, from budgetary issues to creative differences, have been cited. Glen Mazzara replaced Darabont as showrunner of 'The Walking Dead,' though he too would eventually leave over creative differences, leaving Scott Gimple as the current showrunner.

'Walking Dead' Finale Ratings Down Again, Is Season 9 in Trouble?
Curious changes are afoot at The Walking Dead, especially as the show’s eighth season has seen some notably tempered ratings. Sunday’s midseason finale also averaged some of the show’s worst numbers since Season 2, and – given the hour’s big twist and some contractual holdups – we had to ask: Is The Walking Dead’s future in question?

We’re accustomed to death on The Walking Dead, and doubly-so when the comics provide a road map. That’s what made that climactic bite in Sunday’s midseason finale such a shocker, and – before you ask – both producers and the actor in question confirm the character’s exit, noting “[That bite] is a one-way ticket.”
