Though we're still a ways out from the release of James Mangold's 'The Wolverine,' this week has been populated with next summer's biggest films announcing themselves through trailers. Though the Hugh Jackman 'X-Men' spin-off film doesn't seem to be unleashing a trailer this week, they have put out a motion poster.
Director James Mangold is about to finish up production on 'The Wolverine' with only a few more days of production left, so that means we should be getting close to seeing the first trailer, right? After a Q&A with Mangold and the film's star Hugh Jackman, the first Japanese calligraphy-style poster was revealed, and the first official photos emerged not too long before. But seriously, we want to see the trailer!
The latest issue of Empire has gifted us with a new image from James Mangold's 'The Wolverine,' (which you can see after the break) but perhaps more importantly is a straight-from-Mangold revelation regarding where exactly this film fits into the 'X-Men' movie universe. Is it indeed a direct follow-up to 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' as previously believed? And will it be consistent with the mythology presented in the other 'X-Men' flicks?
As we're all well aware, 'The Wolverine' is currently in production in Australia with a jacked Hugh Jackman once again sinking his teeth into the role of Logan. We also know that the film sports a supporting cast of predominantly unknown actors; or, at the very least, actors who aren't largely familiar to worldwide audiences. But rumor has it a recognizable face is joining Jackman in Sydney for a brief but potentially fascinating cameo. Who could it be...?
Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova has officially reported to the set of 'The Wolverine' as the sexy villain Viper, and aren't you a little curious to see what she looks like? We've got the first photos of Khodchenkova from the set of the new film, and we've gotta say, they're not hard to look at.
