Fambly. Chances are you just read that word in the gravel-voiced growl of babyfaced colossus Vin Diesel, the star of the Fast and Furious franchise that turned those two syllables into a catchphrase, and then into a way of life. In no small way, Diesel is the series, and not just because his name makes him sound like he’s already a character in one of these movies. As noble-hearted car jacker Dom Toretto, he helped shape the tone, themes, and overall outlook of all films fast and furious. But he was this close to missing it all, and going through life primarily identified as “the guy in the xXx movies I always tell my wife I was trying to Google.”

We’ve come a long way from The Walking Dead teasing Negan’s Season 6 finale debut, and it’s of interest to look back at some of the early rumors for casting. Among the names floated were Justified and Santa Clarita Diet star Timothy Olyphant, though the actor now claims he’d never had anything to do with it.

The Grinder notwithstanding, we could always stand to see Justified alum Timothy Olyphant taking on more comedy. That’s never clearer than in the latest preview for Netflix’s cannibalistic Santa Clarita Diet, as Olyphant’s Joel Hammond slowly cracks under the weight of Sheila (Drew Barrymore)’s bloody new lifestyle.

Let’s face it: no one knew quite what to do with the notion of Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant in a dark family comedy for Netflix, at least until they threw in the blood.
