Every day, more women step forward to join the growing chorus of those who were sexually assaulted or harassed by Harvey Weinstein. The famed Hollywood executive has been accused of abusing his power to victimize dozens of women, but each new, horrible story is matched by another celebrity essay or social media post denouncing Weinstein and offering support to the (seemingly) countless number of women who survived him. We can now add Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson, Ryan Gosling (and more) to the list of their supporters.

We thought it a little odd that Tom Hanks was noodling over a new David Pumpkins sketch before SNL even got to October, and NBC has finally answered our questions. The viral Halloween character will return for a half-hour animated special, with Hanks and Peter Dinklage lending their voices.

SNL viewers are bracing for the return of Tom Hanks’ famous David Pumpkins, but one of Season 42’s most memorable pre-political characters almost looked very different. According to Bobby Moynihan, Hanks thought David Pumpkins was better suited to a Hemsworth.

Steven Spielberg’s Pentagon Papers movie, recently retitled The Papers (before it was The Post), has one of the most ridiculously stacked casts in recent memory — and it just recruited more members. I don’t want to alarm anyone, but SNL’s David S. Pumpkins and Alec Baldwin’s Trump both debuted in the same season. I know! Things kind of took a turn after November 8, but Tom Hanks’ delightfully bizarre Halloween character debuted only two weeks prior, and now gets his very own Season 42 sendoff. Meet David S. Pimpkins!

In the second act of The Circle (a film so poorly structured that it feels like it has five acts instead of three), Emma Watson’s painfully earnest protagonist Mae Holland decides to go “transparent” and have her entire life live-streamed around the clock, save for the occasional three-minute bathroom break. Throughout these sequences, CGI text boxes appear on screen to display viewer comments in “real-time,” with half-baked thoughts ranging from “I just ate cheese from last year” to “My girlfriend dumped me.” Those comments, often irrelevant and ineloquent, are the only part of The Circle that feels remotely relevant or clever…or entertaining. The rest, like the titular shape, is hollow.
