It's only recently been officially declared summertime, but for many the season has been in full bloom since the first weekend of May when 'Iron Man 3' pummeled everything in its path. Now, as the months roll on, the superhero everyone is talking about is Superman, thanks to 'Man of Steel.' So which superhero packed the most punch for you?

'The Hobbit' Featurette: Transforming New Zealand Into Middle Earth

EDIT

Every single behind-the-scenes video from 'The Hobbit' or the 'Lord of the Rings' films is, in its own little way, an advertisement for the nation of New Zealand. Peter Jackson's Middle Earth films have been completely shot in his home country, and it's now impossible to imagine J.R.R. Tolkien's fictional fantasy world without thinking of the gorgeous Kiwi countryside. A new featurette on 'The Hobbit' trilogy gives us a good look at how little work it was transforming New Zealand's landscapes into a land of dwarves, wizards and dragons.

With the arrival of 'Man of Steel' in theaters this weekend comes the next major superhero franchise, as well as the first legitimate step toward an eventual 'Justice League' movie. So are we soon going to see different DC Comics characters make their way to the big screen? Indications are yes, but how soon?

'Man of Steel' Review

I believe a man can fly -- and beat the living hell out of Michael Shannon for close to 40 compounded minutes in ways hitherto unseen on film. But Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel' is no mere slugfest. It goes for broke, faces the legend and tackles the iconography of one of modernity's largest-shared myths, Kal-El of Krypton, on its own terms. It is among the finest "franchise reboots" of all time, which may sound like a bit of a backhanded compliment until you realize that this is, in fact, a genre unto itself. It manages, somehow, to be "the same but different," a new film that everyone under the yellow sun knows from beginning to end. It is the film of summer 2013.

Are New 'Friday the 13th' and 'South Park' Movies on the Way?

New Line/Comedy Central
First, there's a strange question: how and why are Warner Bros. and Paramount co-producing Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic, 'Interstellar'? Then there's the strange answer: because Warner Bros. wanted to be part of Nolan's next film so much that they were willing to give another studio the rights to future 'Friday the 13th' and 'South Park' movies to make it happen.

Two new posters for next month's 'Man of Steel' have crashed on earth (not including the one we previously revealed the other day of Jor-El), showing us the film's hero and villain in all their glowering glory. Of course, we're talking about Superman (Henry Cavill) and General Zod (Michael Shannon).

'The Hangover Part 3' will bring the Wolfpack's adventures to an end, starting this Thursday, May 23. All the trailers, clips and posters are pegging this as an "epic conclusion" on the same lines as the 'Harry Potter' finale, so that means we have to ring in the final film in a big way -- with a 10-piece prize pack.

The 'Justice League' Problem: Does Damon Lindelof Have the Solution?

EDIT

Whatever the "Justice League problem" means to you, Lord knows there is one. Warner Bros. was originally set on the idea of bringing this team of DC heroes to the big screen, but has since faltered and are now relying on whether the upcoming 'Man of Steel' succeeds or not to make that decision for them. Still there are many concerns from fans and execs alike about realizing this particular set of characters, but could one of the top working writers of the day, Damon Lindelof, have a solution?
