When Anchorman 2 hit theaters in 2013, it had been nine years since we first met Ron Burgundy and the Channel 4 news team — a pretty significant delay that led to increased comedic expectations, resulting in an underwhelming sequel. At the time, writer / director Adam McKay said he wouldn’t make another one, but he does have some ideas for a potential Anchorman 3 plot, and it wouldn’t be the first time a director backtracked on their promise to avoid another sequel…

Cult comedies that attempt to regroup for a sequel many years after the original film often have mixed success. You’ll probably find few people who like Anchorman 2 or Dumb and Dumber To as much as the originals. But, that hasn’t stopped Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson from returning for Zoolander 2 and, despite the odds, this actually looks really funny.
After earning huge laughs with their whiskey-and-water dynamic in 2010's The Other Guys, Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell reteam for a comedy that puts a hilarious spin on the emotional fallout of divorce.
Do you want to make bank? Do you want to drive a Range Rover? Well, we’ve got some good news for you. The Catalina Wine Mixer, the biggest helicopter-leasing event in the Western Hemisphere since 1997, is actually going to take place this month on Catalina Island, and you can be there. POW.
Josh Gad has reportedly been in talks for months to play iconic film critic Roger Ebert in Russ and Roger Go Beyond, a new film that follows Ebert’s personal and professional relationship with filmmaker Russ Meyer. It should hardly come as a surprise that guys like Robert Downey Jr., Will Smith and Tom Cruise are among the highest-paid actors in the world. For his part, Downey Jr. is one of the biggest stars in the biggest movie franchise, while Cruise churns out one blockbuster after another, and the very presence of Smith commands huge box office returns. Predictability aside, there are some surprises on this year’s list of the highest-paid actors in the world.
Let’s make this clear: A Deadly Adoption is not a spoof of a Lifetime movie, at least not in the way you’re thinking. It’s not obviously satirical, either, especially if you aren’t familiar with the Lifetime movie formula, like those of us blessed enough to grow up on a steady diet of Lifetime movies in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Instead, Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig‘s new TV movie (kept secret for months, with Ferrell even outright denying its existence) is more of an homage, honoring the classic Lifetime movie tropes — it’s as if they’re filling out a MadLib.
Will Ferrell is never not busy, which means that he’s never pinned down. He may be a successful solo movie star, but he’s a man of many partnerships, never missing an opportunity to share the screen with a variety of co-stars. With the arrival of Daddy’s Home, Ferrell hopes to bring his onscreen partnership with Mark Wahlberg to John C. Reilly-ian levels. Hopefully, the movie itself is funnier than the new trailer. After all, the last time these two teamed up, we got the massively underrated The Other Guys.
Last week brought an appropriately silly-seeming first look at Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig’s surprise Lifetime movie A Deadly Adoption, though the full trailer paints a decidedly different picture. The spoof is subtler, but just what kind of movie will A Deadly Adoption turn out to be?
