Terminator Console Games in Development
It’s been a while since we’ve had a quality ‘Terminator‘ video game, but Reef Entertainment is willing to give it a go as it’s just acquired the license to make console games based on the first two movies.
According to Variety, Reef, which already has a ‘Rambo’ game in the works, has just snapped up the ‘Terminator’ and ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ rights from Studio Canal. The last time we saw the metal machines in action was Terminator: Salvation, which, to be fair, should never be spoken of again.
Reef’s deal allows it to make console games based on both films, but a PC version of ‘T2′ is also allowed. It’s not really clear if that’s in the cards at this stage though. “It’s an incredible opportunity and an equally huge responsibility to create a game that does great justice to the motion pictures,” Reef said in a statement. “We are studying all aspects and influences of the Terminator universe defined in ‘Terminator’ and ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day.’ We have started on our journey and are drawing on all the diverse materials available to produce a high quality, authentic and exciting Terminator video game.”
It’ll likely be some time until we learn more about the wheres and whens of these new ‘Terminator’ games, but we’re hopeful Reef can deliver. It’s been far too long since we’ve had a competent game based on the films.
