Remember that Han Solo movie Lucasfilm is planning? So far, only Alden Ehrenreich has been cast, but now we hear that directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are testing for the film’s female lead. Among the hopefuls are Mad Max: Fury Road star Zoe Kravitz, Tessa Thompson (Creed, SelmaThor: Ragnarok), and Naomi Scott from the upcoming Power Rangers movie.

According to Variety, Lord and Miller are conducting the tests in London. Production won’t start on the movie for another few months, so they have plenty of time to finalize their decision and are taking all the time they can get. Ehrenreich was cast in the first round of tests, and hopefully after this round the untitled solo Solo film will have at least one more cast member.

An actor for young Lando Calrissian is also being discussed, with Donald Glover maaaybe in talks for the role, which would probably make Donald Glover’s day, week, month, entire life. Disney and Lucasfilm did say that they were conducting a second round of tests for Calrissian just to make sure they found the right person, but come on. Here’s hoping the Solo movie’s filming schedule lines up with Glover’s as he’s no doubt busy with work on his television series Atlanta.

It’s good to see Lucasfilm actively casting actors of color in more prominent roles, and with this latest news we know they’re not stopping now. Out of Scott, Thompson, and Kravitz, we can’t pick a favorite — if any one of these talented actors is cast we know for sure they’ll bring plenty of spark.

The untitled Han Solo movie hits theaters May 25, 2018.
