To reboot a successful franchise not long after its last film is test that Marc Webb's 'The Amazing Spider-Man' will have to pass. Sam Raimi's first 'Spider-Man' came out ten years ago today, and he finished his run five years ago. Are audiences ready for another spin around the park? Perhaps they'll be more excited after this new trailer.

Prepped just in time for the release of 'The Avengers' (imagine that), the new trailer shows what should separate this version from the previous trilogy: Daddy issues. It seems that Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker wants to know what happened to his parents, and that Rhys Ifans's Curt Connors (aka The Lizard) has the key to the information.

Also, there's some fighting.

It seems that Parker reveals his crime-fighting identity to Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy in the film, and there's definitely scale here. During some sequences, it's nice to see a director with a completely different vision for the character, and Garfield seems to have nailed the right tone for flippant Spidey. Still, we're not entirely convinced that it's worth going to this well so soon after the last go-around, if for no other reason than it gives other studios license to reboot as soon as possible. We'll know more when the film hits July 3.
