Marc Webb's 'The Amazing Spider-Man' is going to try to be one of the big event films of the summer - even if it's rebooting the not-quite-cold Sam Raimi trilogy. Will audiences take to Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors aka The Lizard? That's still unknown, but now there's three clips to heat up interest.

Earlier this year, Sony had a fifteen minute presentation of clips to introduce their latest trailer and it must be said the film looked good, though it also suggested there's a lot of set up to the film. It's unknown how much of the movie is an origin tale, and how audiences will react to being reintroduced to a character they liked. Sure 'Spider-Man 3' may be the weakest of the trilogy, but it's no so bad they need to go the Christopher Nolan route and set up the character from the beginning.

That said, the clips looked confident, and this footage - while modest in length - does suggest there's going to be fun in this new version. But it also shows that there's some origin story-stuff here, he seems to wake up with his powers, and he's testing his homemade web shooters. the film opens July 4, and it's got two weeks until it goes up against 'The Dark Knight Rises.'
