Yesterday, the trailer for 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' debuted online and there was much rejoicing within the geek world. However, there was seemingly no one as excited as the ladies seen in the video above, who recorded their reaction to the trailer and put it on YouTube. These two fangirls probably expected fellow Middle Earth fans to watch the video and share in their excitement, but they definitely didn't expect director Peter Jackson to see it and arrange a response.

Jackson's response video (which you can and should watch below) involves actors Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly and Lee Pace watching the girls watch the trailer...while they're on the set and in full costume, of course. The trio of Elven actors seem plenty amused by the antics of their adoring fans, with Lilly being particularly happy when the girls in the video call her a badass. What makes this whole thing feel truly special is that Jackson and his cast could have heard about this video, ignored it and no one would have batted an eye. However, by choosing to shoot this video and make the day (year?) of two fans, he once again proved why he's one of the most beloved geek icons of all time.

Of course, what we need now is a reaction video of the two girls watching the on-set reaction video to their initial reaction video. Then and only then will the circle be complete.

'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' opens in theaters on December 13th, 2013.
