‘The Hunger Games’ Hits DVD and Blu-Ray In August, Filled With Extras

If you're absolutely itching to get your own copy of 'The Hunger Games' soon, you won't have to wait much longer. Lionsgate reveals not only the date for the anticipated 2 disc DVD/Blu-ray release but all of the wonderful goodies that will be stored in it.

The sci-fi/action film, directed by Gary Ross and starring Jennifer Lawrence, made waves the second it came out in theaters, decimating any movie that was in its path. The film is sitting comfortably with a worldwide gross of $636 million dollars in its pocket.

Now it's time to read up on some of the details for the upcoming video release. 'The Hunger Games' will be officially out on DVD and Blu-ray on August 18, 2012. Fans will be able to relive the thrilling movie once again but this time with a variety of cool supplements to back it up. Both the DVD and the Blu-ray will contain three hours of bonus material which includes the eight-part documentary called "The World is Watching: Making of The Hunger Games."

There will be several other extra behind-the-scenes features in the DVD, but the Blu-ray will contain an extra video. It's called "Preparing for the Games: A Director's Process" in which it follows around Gary Ross through the duration of shooting 'The Hunger Games' and some of the struggles and triumphs that come with making such a major motion picture.
