The CGI in Jon Favreau’s adaptation of The Jungle Book looks incredible — though it is a little strange to see the animals actually speak, as you can in the first clip from Disney’s epic new adventure. The sneak peek introduces us to the fearsome and ferocious tiger Shere Khan, voiced by Idris Elba, and while it’ll take some adjusting to hear these famous voices coming out of the mouths of gorgeous animals, Elba is inarguably the perfect voice for Khan.

As you can see above, our intro to Shere Khan isn’t exactly pleasant, as he confronts wolf pack leader Akela (Giancarlo Esposito) about the presence of young Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi). “Oh, they gave it a name,” Elba mockingly intones, while inspiring a few goosebumps. We’ve already heard a few of the other animal voices, including Scarlett Johansson as the seductive python Kaa and Christopher Walken as the great ape King Louie — you’re probably more familiar with the animated Disney version of the character, who was depicted as an orangutan, a species not found in The Jungle Book’s setting of India.

Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of selfdiscovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.

The film also stars Bill Murray as the friendly bear Baloo, Ben Kingsley as the panther Bagheera and Lupita Nyong’o as the wolf Raksha. The Jungle Book arrives on April 15.
