They say that when sorrows come, they come not in single spies, but battalions, and 'The Killing' is no exception. Like brother, like sister.

Or is it?

For its upcoming sophomore season set to debut on AMC on April 1, imported Danish murder-mystery series 'The Killing' has just nabbed a former 'Homeland' Star in Marin Ireland to portray Liz Holder, sister to Detective Stephen Holder.

Fans (or detractors) of 'The Killing's first season will recall that the finale episode "Orpheus Descending" revealed - SPOILER ALERT - Detective Holder to secretly be working against the investigation of Rosie Larsen's murder, for reasons unknown to the audience.

According to the TVLine report, Ireland's "Liz" is a "tough, blue collar girl who won’t take you-know-what from her brother — or anybody for that matter."  Let's hope so, if she turns out to be as bad an apple as her no-good brother!

Marin Ireland was most recently seen on the acclaimed Showtime drama 'Homeland' as one half of a husband-and-wife terrorist team.  Her other credits include CBS' 'A Gifted Man' and HBO's mini-series 'Mildred Pierce.'

'The Killing' kicks off its sophomore season on Sunday, April 1 at 8:00 / 7:00 p.m Central with a two-hour episode that picks up directly after the events of the previous season finale.  The new season will continue the investigation into Rosie Larsen, as well as a new mystery.

What say you, 'The Killing' fans?  Does the addition of a sister for Stephen Holder give the characters last-minute twist some much-needed humanity, or did you swear off the series all-together after its controversial finale?

I'll be tuning in, so hit us up with your thoughts on this bit of casting in the comments below!
