‘The Martian’ TV Spot: Matt Damon Never Stops Fighting

We’re a little less than a month away from the release of Ridley Scott’s The Martian, which may very well prove to be the director’s best film in years, if the trailers and TV spots are any indication. Everything we’ve seen so far (especially those viral videos) from Scott’s latest looks riveting and exciting, and while the latest TV spot is brief, it does offer a few glimpses of new footage.

20th Century Fox has released a new spot for The Martian titled “Never Stop Fighting.” The spot showcases Matt Damon’s struggles as astronaut Mark Watney, a man stranded on Mars when his team’s mission goes awry. Presumed dead and with little hope for survival or communication with Earth, Watney must make do with his scarce resources and use his wits if he ever hopes to make it home alive.

During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return.

The Martian also stars Jessica Chastain, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kristen Wiig, Donald Glover, Michael Pena, Kate Mara and Jeff Daniels, and hits theaters on October 2.
