Well isn't this a lovely surprise?  For those curious about the next great drama from Aaron Sorkin 'The Newsroom,' but without an HBO subscription, you can preview the series by watching the full pilot online right now!

HBO has decided to increase awareness of its new Aaron Sorkin drama 'The Newsroom' but offering up the series' hour-long pilot episode completely free, available for streaming online!  'The Newsroom' premiered last night after the all-new 'True Blood' episode "Whatever I Am, You Made Me," but who needs to wait for a repeat?  And certainly, we can all put down our concerns of HBO developing an online subscription service for the moment.

Set at a fictional cable news network, 'The Newsroom' follows Jeff Daniels as acerbic and controversial anchor Will McAvoy, and features Emily Mortimer as his new executive producer, his newsroom staff (Alison Pill, John Gallagher, Jr., Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, Thomas Sadoski) as well as their boss (‘Law and Order’s Sam Waterston).  The first few episodes have been receiving mixed reports from critics, but now you can judge for yourself!

The first episode is also available for free via multiple distributors’ On Demand platforms and as an iTunes podcast.  Watch the pilot episode below, and tell us if you think 'The Newsroom' is Aaron Sorkin's next great masterpiece in the comments below!
