In addition to helming a new 'Predator' sequel, 'Iron Man 3' director Shane Black is heading back to detective work with his new film 'The Nice Guys.' And what better pair of guys can you get than Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, who have both just been cast in Black's newest project as a detective duo.

Black, who's known for his killer scripts for films like 'Lethal Weapon' and 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,' is heading back to the world of detective work with 'The Nice Guys.' Black will direct from a script he co-wrote with Anthony Bagarozzi.

Variety reports that Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe have been cast in the lead roles as two detectives in 1970s Los Angeles, who are investigating the supposed suicide of a porn star whose career is on the decline. As they dig deeper into the investigation, the detectives uncover a vast criminal conspiracy, as you typically do when you're a detective in the 70s investigating the death of a sexy lady in a movie.

This marks Black's third directorial effort, following 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' and 'Iron Man 3,' both of which teamed him up with Robert Downey Jr. Black is also set to helm a 'Predator' sequel from a script by Fred Dekker, writer of classic horror flicks 'The Monster Squad' and 'Night of the Creeps.'

Crowe most recently appeared in 'Noah,' and stars next in his feature directorial debut, 'The Water Diviner.' As for Gosling, he's taken a little break from acting after a slew of starring roles in films like 'Only God Forgives,' 'The Place Beyond the Pines,' and 'Gangster Squad.' Gosling also recently made his directorial debut with 'Lost River,' which hits theaters later this year.
