We all appreciated, even loved, NBC's version of 'The Office,' the show that launched Steve Carell's career and a million "that's what she said" quips. But for some, there was never any replacing the original 'Office' or Ricky Gervais' David Brent, a character for whom saying the worst thing at the worst time was as natural as breathing. A lot of us miss Brent and would like to see him return ... and we might get a chance to on the big screen!

The idea of a movie revolving around Brent is unbearably delicious, although right now it may just be a pipe dream. But the dream is fueled by a blurb in a recent Hollywood Reporter profile of Gervais. Hidden in a paragraph about what the comedian is cooking up next comes this bit of info:

...he's preparing material for another stand-up tour and plans to sign a record deal for his 'Office' character, whom he recently revived through his YouTube series 'Learn Guitar With David Brent.' The installments began as a stunt for charity, but Gervais hopes they will be the basis for a movie about Brent trying to make it in the music industry.

If you haven't yet seen Gervais' "Learn Guitar with David Brent," it's a mistake that can be corrected by going HERE. (Check out a sample below.) Suffice to say, it's catnip to fans of the character's awkward lack of self-awareness, and the prospect of a movie revolving around his attempt at becoming a musician is too good to be true. But, you know, let's hope it's true.
