We're diving head-first into the super serious Oscar contender season. Thankfully there are a couple movies, including 'The Sapphires,' that are giving us a reason to smile through all of the melodrama films that are being handed to us.

Some of you may have already heard about 'The Sapphires' due to its debut at this year's Cannes Film Festival. It's scheduled to pop up at this next month's Toronto International Film Festival so if you're a lucky son of a gun who can see it there, you're lucky. If not, you might be persuaded to want to see it after watching the charming trailer below.

'The Sapphires' centers on a quartet of young women who are trained by a talent scout (Chris O'Dowd) to perform in front of U.S. troops during the Vietnam War. The cast includes Jessica Mauboy, Deborah Mailman, Shari Sebbbens and Miranda Tapsell.

The very lighthearted, sweet and comedic tone of the picture seeps out in the trailer. We imagine that there's still a considerable amount of drama that has yet to really show just yet, but that'll pop up in future trailers. For now just sit back and check out the first one trailer. We'll keep you informed if/when it comes to theaters stateside.
