Say what you you will about 'The Simpsons' and its ever-increasing roster of celebrity guest stars to keep viewers interested in the aging series, but at the very least most of those guest stars were born by the time the series first started airing!  A phenomenon that no pop culture powerhouse could ignore, we've learned that 'The Simpsons' season 24 has added pop sensation Justin Bieber to the ranks, but is the role as pint-sized as the singer himself?

According to Entertainment Weekly, Justin Bieber's next big break will come from 'The Simpsons' season 24, when the singer stops by for a brief appearance sometime in 2013.  Naturally playing himself, Bieber will only appear in a brief segment of the episode as opposed to a featured guest spot.

Bieber himself first announced the news over Twitter, saying “just did a voice over for the SIMPSONS!!! #swaggy,” though he soon after deleted the announcement.  EW confirmed with 'The Simpsons' executive producer Al Jean, who clarified, "He tries to get into a talent show that Bart is playing piano in and they won’t admit him...Draw your own conclusions.”

“It’s a cameo,” specifies Jean, “but all of his fans should watch every minute of the show, before and after he’s on.”

Bieber isn’t the only big name to come out of ‘The Simpsons’ season 24, however, as we recently learned that Edward Norton would take the role of a rival priest to Reverend Lovejoy,  ‘New Girl‘ star Zooey Deschanel would reprise her role as Bart’s love interest Mary Spuckler not once but twice, joining other such guests as Anne Hathaway, Sarah Silverman, Natalie Portman, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Steve Carrell, Patton Oswalt, Benedict Cumberbatch, Max Weinberg and Robert A. Caro.

What say you?  Does the singer's appearance on 'The Simpsons' season 24 give you Bieber fever, or do you wish the spot were more than a cameo?  Who would you like to see guest star on 'The Simpsons?'  Tell us in the comments below  if you'll watch the new season, beginning September 30!
