Animated shorts seem to finally be making their much wanted comeback in theaters. Disney used to do them back in the day and it wasn't until Pixar started doing shorts in front of their films that other animated studios finally realized that audiences still enjoy watching them. A new Simpsons short will now be making its way to theaters in front of 'Ice Age: Continental Drift.'

Pixar has been leading the charge for years, re-introducing the animated short in front of feature films as a launching pad for new talent to segway into feature films. Disney has been killing it lately with their animated shorts and 'Paperman,' which will show in front of 'Wreck-It Ralph,' looks to be spectacular. Fox doesn't want you to think they've been lazy though, their introducing a brand new four-and-a-half minute short called 'The Longest Daycare' to be shown in front of 'Ice Age: Continental Drift,' starring everyone's favorite cartoon baby, Maggie Simpson.

The official synopsis and trailer is below, courtesy of EW:

Baby Maggie makes a return visit to the Ayn Rand School for Tots, which doesn’t start promisingly, as a machine scans her and determines that her future is “nothing special.”

Yes, it's a brief teaser, but this one looks like it's going to be a lot of fun watching Maggie go up against Baby Gerald in the daycare. 'Ice Age: Continental Drift' opens in theaters on July 13th. Watch the trailer below.
