FX’s ‘The Strain’ Takes Manhattan in First Full Season 2 Trailer
FX Guillermo del Toro vampire thriller The Strain gave us an early sneak peek at the apocalyptic New York carnage of Season 2 months ago, but with the outbreak due to return this coming July, fresh footage has finally escaped quarantine for a brand-new trailer.
“I vow to fight The Master until the day I die,” cautions a still-kicking Abraham Sertrakian (David Bradley) in our first official footage of the new season (via Entertainment Weekly). “If today is that day, so be it!” Amid all the decay, it also looks as if Eph and Norah find a new mode of attack against the so-called Strigoi, using their own biology against them with a manipulation of the virus. It’ll end well for everyone, undoubtedly!
Elsewhere, relatively little has been revealed of The Strain Season 2, though we know the new summer run will pick up with Eph (Ant-Man star Corey Stoll) and Abraham’s near-defeat of The Master, weakening, but not stopping the spread of vampirism in the city. New aspects of the series will include the vampire hunters seen throughout the first season, literary characters Quinlan and the masked luchador Angel, as teased by del Toro at Comic-Con 2014. Additionally, The Amazing Spider-Man star Max Charles will replace Ben Hyland as Zach Goodweather, owing to more complicated storylines to come for the character, while the promo also reveals American Horror Story: Asylum star Lizzie Brochere.
The Strain will start a second round of infection this summer, but check out the first trailer below, and get a jump on boarding your windows.
