Uncertain though we were what to make of AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’ spinning off a “companion series” in 2015, we had to admit our excitement for the possibility of exploring a new corner of the zombie apocalypse. Now, the setting for the AMC monster-drama’s forthcoming spinoff has been revealed, and yes, the City of Angels has officially gone to hell. Well...further, anyway.

Per TVLine, the tentatively-titled “Cobalt” spinoff will be firmly set in Los Angeles, California, though no indication was given if the series would shoot in its central city, or perhaps trade-in for a Los Angeles lookalike to keep costs down. In any case, we’ve no idea what the exploration of an undead L.A. would add to the tone of ‘The Walking Dead,’ though perhaps the timing of the series against the zombie apocalypse could offer something unique to its parent series.

Led by ‘The Last Airbender’ star Cliff Curtis as teacher Sean Cabrera, ‘The Walking Dead’'s spinoff “companion” series cast also includes ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ star Frank Dillane as female lead Nancy’s drug-addicted son, while AMC pilot ‘Galyntine’’s Alycia Debnam Carey will play her ambitious daughter.

Walking Dead’ executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert will all take part in the new series, tentatively titled “Cobalt,” while ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and ‘Low Winter Sun’ vet Dave Erickson will both co-write and executive produce, and Adam Davidson will direct the pilot. We know that the series won’t be set in Georgia, but could potentially cross over with the main ‘Walking Dead’ cast in time, as Kirkman previously offered up a few thoughts as to what might bring the series together.

Well, what say you? Does ‘The Walking Dead’'s spinoff hook your interest, now that the walkers might take a bite out of the ‘Entourage’ cast? Where would you want to see the series set, if not Los Angeles?
